What's all this then?
Well, Land Rover is currently gearing up to launch the fifth generation Discovery (or fourth, depending on how you feel about the Discovery 3, Discovery 4 divide...) so that means it's special edition run-out time for the current model.
We're getting two new trim levels for the Disco, Landmark and Graphite. Landmark is based on the HSE Luxury spec, and comes with full-length, bright-finish roof rails, black side vents, grilles and mirror caps and silver-finish badges. It'll ride on massive 20-inch five-spoke alloys too. There's also a special new orange, called Zanzibar, which is exclusive to the Landmark model for now. Inside, buyers get the extended leather pack, with Windsor leather as standard, in ebony, almond or tan and you can pick from walnut or black-piano-style veneer. The Landmark price starts at £55,995.
And what about the Graphite?
The Graphite takes up the styling of the successful 'Black Pack' option and runs with it for full stealth-fighter effect. The vents, grilles, door handles and badges are all finished in a distinctive graphite grey, while the wheels are also in a grey, a high-gloss finish and available in 19-inch, seven-spoke style. Graphite pricing starts at £47,495.
The Discovery is also getting a last-gasp upgrade to Jaguar Land Rover's new InControl infotainment system, which should prove a major improvement on the old one. The Terrain Response system also now comes with the wade sensing option, which uses the parking sensors to detect if the water you've just driven in to is too deep for the car.
Tow Hitch Assist is available as an option to help hitch a trailer to the tow bar and Towing Assist acts as an extra pair of eyes as the vehicle is manoeuvred into position. Safety and security options - such as Blind Spot Monitoring, Closing Vehicle Sensing and Reverse Traffic Detection - offer the driver further assistance when out on the road.
What's under the bonnet?
The engine for both new special editions remains the 3.0-litre SDV6 turbodiesel, delivering 256hp, 36.7mpg and a CO2 emissions figure of 203g/km.
