What's all this about?
Concept car teaser images seldom show much of the car, usually just an outline or a detail. Citroen has gone one step further with a preview of its Cactus M concept that doesn't feature the car at all. Instead it has released a picture of a blue and white surfboard decorated with 'Cactus M' logos. The text accompanying the image reads: 'The summer holidays may now be drawing to a close, but we've been preparing an exciting project...'
So what do we know?
Citroen has promised that the concept will be 'bold and creative', influenced by the lightweight Citroen Mehari utility vehicle of 1968. It could even lead to the eventual production of a C4 Cactus convertible.
Possible concept features include a clip-on canvas roof, open load area and a variation on the Airbump side protection seen on the C4 Cactus. We'd be very surprised if there wasn't also somewhere to carry a surfboard or two.
Is there anything else?
According to Autocar, Citroen has applied for a trademark on the 'e-Mehari' name. Whether that means the concept will feature an electric or hybrid drivetrain is something we'll have to wait to discover. The Citroen Cactus M concept is due to be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
