The 407 Elixir is an original concept car full of styling innovations and outstanding engineering that gives visitors to the show a glimpse of how future Peugeot models might look. The styling is both dynamic and elegant with an appreciably long front end and elegant rear proportions.
Thanks to a combination of pure, clean lines, the body has 'fluid' design that combines a very steeply inclined windscreen with a glass roof - a feature now synonymous with the Peugeot brand. At the front chrome-plated beading and beautifully integrated headlamps surround a wide "mouth".
At the back, the dynamic design is enhanced by twin exhausts, LED-type rear lights and an opening rear window accommodated in a relatively upright tailgate.
The 407 Elixir is designed to seat four people in comfort. The doors open to reveal an interior with no partition or rear parcel shelf, housing four identical, adjustable seats.
The 407 Elixir is welcoming and user-friendly with 'dual zone' automatic air conditioning and satellite navigation displayed on a 7", 16/9 colour screen.
The bright passenger compartment features impressive materials and light, high quality leather. This is bordered at the top by aluminium inserts that run the length of the interior as far as each end of the fascia panel.
The 407 Elixir has pre-tensioning seatbelts with a seatbelt-not-fastened indicator for each of the four seats. Passengers are protected by nine airbags, one of which - incorporated in the steering column - protects the driver's knees.
Power for the 407 Elixir is provided by an all-new, 6-cylinder 2,700cc HDi diesel engine. This engine features the latest-generation particulate emission filter, ensuring automatic regeneration without any mileage limitations.
The maximum power developed by this DT17 type diesel engine is 148 kW (more than 200 bhp), with a maximum torque figure of 440 Nm.
The transmission adopts a 'Tiptronic' style sequential gearbox, with a gear lever allowing either 100 % automatic operation or manual, sequential control over gear changes.
Elixir has dual wishbone suspension at the front and the latest generation multi-arm system at the rear - combined with a new Electronic Stability Programme (ESP).
This state-of-the-art suspension technology offers high-quality road holding and unrivalled comfort, ensuring genuine driving pleasure - a true Peugeot trademark.
