What's all this about?
The Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in 2011 was where McLaren Special Operations (MSO) kicked off its work, and so four years later this personalisation arm of the supercar manufacturer is returning to the US venue with some special machinery.
Such as?
A pair of 570S Coupés, the forthcoming 'baby' Macca that will start the Sports Series for the Woking concern. One is the 570S by MSO, in Mauvine Blue with a Carbon Black interior and some blue details, while the other is a Ventura Orange example for the Concept Lawn, designed to showcase some of the options from the MSO Defined range.
Any of the Super or Ultimate Series McLarens on display?
None of the latter, sadly, but two of the former should make up for that. Pebble Beach will be graced by the presence of a 675LT (one of 500 built, all sold out) and an example of the 50-off limited edition of the 650S, called the Le Mans. Furthermore, BMW North America has kindly loaned chassis #17R to McLaren for the show.
That sounds like it's an exciting car...
It is - it's a 1996 McLaren F1 GTR competition machine. Glorious.
Anything else going on?
Well, there's always a big-money auction at each Pebble Beach show and this year is no exception. If you're super-rich, get bidding on a Volcano Red P1 road car or the penultimate F1 off the line, chassis #073, which is fitted with a number of LM upgrades. Oh, to be a millionaire!
