What's this then?
Jaguar is gearing up to reveal its all-new SUV called the F-Pace. It has already been out and about in public, most recently on the Tour de France, but it has remained somewhat disguised.
What do we know about it?
Some of the juicier tech details are being held back until the Frankfurt Motor Show where the F-Pace will make its official world debut, but chassis expert, Mike Cross, has been giving an insight into what we can expect from the new car. He said "We haven't made any compromises or exceptions. The new F-Pace must be a true Jaguar and deliver the Jaguar dynamics DNA".
Will it be all-wheel drive?
Yes, much like the recently launched F-Type AWD, the F-Pace will use a clever torque vectoring system that distributes power to each wheel to give the optimum performance. Added to this are a sophisticated double wishbone suspension setup in the front and an integral link system in the rear. Cross explains: "We've tested ride and handling to extremities in all environments and in all conditions. The result is that the new F-Pace is as engaging and rewarding to drive as it is going to be enjoyable to own."
Any other titbits of information?
According to Cross, Jaguar engineers have also been working hard to ensure that the company's reputation for good steering setup carries through to the F-Pace. The power steering will use an electrically-assisted setup that he says gives the driver "exceptional feedback" when driving even with minimal inputs.
