2015-09-22: Egg-chasing fans get special Rolls-Royce Wraith

What's all this about?

Think of Rolls-Royce and music and you'll probably imagine polite string quartets or powerful operas; the company itself had something more contemporary in mind when its Bespoke division created the Wraith 'Inspired by Music'. It features Bespoke Audio, described as 'the most exhaustively designed sound system in automotive history', along with special exterior and interior design details.

What makes it special?

The first thing you notice is the 'Lyrical Copper' paint with a combination of brushed and polished textures. Inside there are new speaker grilles with a copper finish and engraved with the words 'Bespoke Audio'. Continuing the copper theme there are special door inserts and book-matched copper-finished panels on the fascia. For extra tactility there are finely woven leather door panniers and floor mats. Rolls-Royce has even created a special clock with copper and silver elements, while the bezel features radial lines that echo the appearance and feel of vinyl records.

How about the sound system?

It took two years to develop the Bespoke Audio system with the audio engineers and interior designers collaborating to produce a system that was 'perfectly tuned' to the car. What they created was a 1,800 Watt, 18-channel installation with two powerful bass speakers, seven tweeters and seven mid-range speakers. There are also two 'exciter' speakers in the headlining to help bring the sound to the listener at ear level. Rolls-Royce claims the audio package 'perfectly imitates the way music is experienced in a live setting'.

Is there anything else?

Wraith 'Inspired by Music' is the third in a trilogy of Bespoke Collections. The first, Wraith 'Inspired by Film' marked Rolls-Royce's association with the silver screen whilst, Wraith 'Inspired by Fashion' was inspired by the materials and motifs of high fashion.

Torsten Müller Ötvös, Chief Executive Officer, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars commented: "Wraith 'Inspired by Music' appeals to those looking to Rolls-Royce for unique and creative motor cars. Its effortlessly cool appearance complements the superior Bespoke Audio system; the contemporary use of copper creates an atmospheric setting for the most encompassing music system on the market".
