What's all this about?
The Volkswagen Touareg is named after the nomadic Tuareg people of the Sahara region of Africa. For 'automotive nomads' who want to travel faster or just personalise their car German tuner ABT Sportsline has released a range of modifications for Volkswagen's large SUV.
Do you get any more power?
Thanks to something called 'ABT Power New Generation' the output of the 3.0-litre V6 TDI engine is lifted from 262- to 290hp; torque is increased too, by 70Nm, to 650Nm. If you're worried that such a performance boost will harm reliability ABT Sportsline backs up its modification with an 'extensive warranty'. The modifications are also said to leave fuel consumption unaffected.
What about styling?
A choice of 'OE quality' accessories are available; to give the Touareg a more assertive look there are headlight covers and a front grille add-on, while a polyurethane spoiler can be fitted at the top of the rear window. ABT can supply a choice of 20- and 21-inch alloy wheels, finished off with valve caps carrying the ABT logo. If your Touareg features air suspension ABT Level Control provides adjustable ride height while replacement springs are available for conventionally-sprung cars.
Anything for the interior?
Floor and boot mats can be supplied to dress up the interior. If you want, LED entrance lights can be installed in the doors to project the ABT logo on the ground when the door is opened.
