2015-09-08: First drive: Range Rover Evoque

What's all this about?

Land Rover has given us full prices on the 2016MY Range Rover Evoque, revealed in all its glory at the Geneva Motor Show, as well as the trim line-up.

How does that go?

Choose from SE, SE Tech, HSE Dynamic, HSE Dynamic Lux and Autobiography, with (for example) standard equipment on the SE comprising 17-inch alloys, Lane Departure Warning, Autonomous Emergency Braking, heated eight-way electrically adjustable front seats, electric folding door mirrors, auto lights and wipers and automatic climate control. All this kicks off at £30,200 on the road.

Which Evoque do I get for that?

The eD4 SE Ingenium manual five-door, a front-wheel drive model with 150hp. SE Tech is a £2,000 jump from there and that price of £32,200 is the entry point for the three-door Evoque Coupť range.

And what's at the top?

You'll need £51,800 for either the three- or five-door versions of the TD4 Autobiography automatic with all-wheel drive.

Remind me again of the running gear...

The Ingenium diesels are the new family of engines from Jaguar Land Rover that have already been confirmed for the Jaguar XE and XF, and the Land Rover Discovery Sport. Cleaner than the old 2.2-litre diesels, the Evoque gets the 2.0-litre powerplant in either 150- or 180hp formats. Service intervals on the TD4 model have been extended to 21,000 miles from 16,000 miles previously.

And is there a petrol option?

Yes, the 2.0-litre Si4 unit with 240hp continues as before in the 2016MY Evoque.

I'd like to build myself an Evoque. Where can I go?

To the sparkly new Evoque configurator right here.
