What's this about?
Serenity isn't normally a word associated with the hustle and bustle of a motor show, but it is the name of Rolls-Royce's latest concept car, which will be unveiled at the Geneva event on 3rd March. So far we only have a design sketch, but it is said to have the most opulent interior of any luxury car.
What's so special about it?
Although these days leather is synonymous with the best cars there was a time when the wealthy would expect to sit on the finest textiles. The Serenity is inspired by those cars, with a unique interior trimmed in silk. Created by the company's Bespoke Design team, with design cues from contemporary European furniture and the Japanese Royal Kimono, the interior is intended to be innovative and modern as well as a tranquil place to be.
From the concept design sketch details can be seen, including mother of pearl inlays in the marquetry on the rear doors, silk woven headrests, smoked cherry wood and a silk headlining with a blossom design. Incidentally, those blossoms are painted by hand.
Any news about the outside?
Nothing firm, but expectations are that the Serenity will be based on a Rolls-Royce Phantom with a special paint scheme.
