What's all this about?
Hyundai is demonstrating plenty of impressive in-car technology at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.
A lot of carmakers are at this CES - what's the big deal?
It's the biggest event of its kind and - seeing as modern-day cars are already crammed with technology - infotainment (a hateful word, but still) has become mega business for the manufacturers who are looking to attract tech-hungry car buyers.
So what is Hyundai offering up?
An 'augmented reality' head-up display, which has even more advanced graphics and animations for all manner of information than current systems, meaning a driver hardly has to take their eyes off the road to get driving data. It also previewed a future touchscreen-dominated interior with huge connectivity potential, called the Hyundai Cockpit Concept, and the same sort of no-contact hand gesture controls for car functions as seen on the Volkswagen Golf R Touch, also seen at CES.
Is any of this kit coming to a Hyundai near me soon?
Not this year or next; think of this as a peek at the Hyundais of the 2020s. However, the new Display Audio system will make production in 2016. It has a seven-inch colour touchscreen optimised for smartphone integration and the latest Blue Link system, without the need for integrated satnav.
