Those visitors to the MPH '05 show at Earls Court over the weekend of 17th-20th November who found their way to stand 830 were in for a treat, in the shape of the Autodelta GT Super Evo. It may not be a household name, but Autodelta is a major player in the car modification business, as Alfa Romeo's primary tuning specialists. At last year's MPH show, Autodelta launched its 320bhp GT Super, the first incarnation of the sports brand's reworked
Alfa Romeo GT. The Evo, which underwent final production over the summer months, is the fastest road legal Alfa Romeo available in the UK.
Alfa Romeo's strong 'Grand Touring' heritage, primarily through its collaborations with styling house Zagato, is a vogue the Autodelta staff have strived to continue with the Evo. The current production model Alfa Romeo GT is available with three engine derivatives, a 2-litre petrol, 1.9-litre diesel and the superb 3.2-litre V6, the latter capable of 151mph and 0-60mph in just 6.7 seconds. Impressive though these performance figures may be, they are annihilated by those of the Autodelta Evo. The modifications reduce the 0-60mph time to just 5.2 seconds, while the power output is a staggering 341bhp, more comparable with a
BMW M3 or
Honda NSX.
The Evo features many of the technical innovations introduced to last year's GT Super, but Autodelta has taken customer feedback to add improvements, resulting in a faster and meaner looking machine. With an increase in power and torque, the handing characteristics of the Evo have also been comprehensively revised.
