What's the news?
Mazda has updated the CX-5 for 2014 with changes to the suspension, a new 'clutch restart system' and a straight gate for the automatic transmission. There are also two new colours - Blue Reflex Mica and Deep Crystal Blue Mica - for customers to choose.
New dampers, suspension bushes and stabilisers are fitted to all models; the changes are designed to improve the driving experience by increasing ride comfort as well as reducing noise, vibration and harshness.
Where a manual transmission is fitted there is now a 'clutch restart system'. If the engine stalls it can be restarted by pressing the clutch pedal within three seconds - without having to use the engine start/stop button. Models with automatic transmission get a straight shift gate, as fitted to the new Mazda3.
The SE-L Lux and Sport models have been upgraded with a memory function for the driver's seat and six-way electrical adjustment for the front passenger seat. Black leather upholstery is standard with a new option of Light Stone leather.
Anything else?
According to Mazda there are 20 different versions of the CX-5 depending on engine, transmission and trim level. Three specifications are offered: SE-L, SE-L Lux and Sport. There are also three engines: 165hp petrol and 150- or 175hp diesel. Prices range from £21,595 to £29,595.
