What's the news?

If you've read our piece on the Maserati Ghibli's Super Bowl advert, you might know where this is going - Chrysler and Jeep, both part of the newly-formed Fiat Chrysler Automobiles group, also launched their latest car ads during the 48th edition of the NFL's showpiece finale. The group's idea was clearly that it had a huge captive audience watching, and hopefully they'll spend some money buying its cars.

Both broadcasts aired during the game between the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos (spoiler alert - the Seahawks won, handsomely): Chrysler's two-minute long effort, bearing the tagline 'America's Import' and featuring no less a musical luminary than Bob Dylan, ran in the third-quarter break, while Jeep's espoused the feeling of 'Restlessness' for 60 seconds at half-time.

You sense FCA was prouder of the Chrysler advert, given the presence of Dylan, who not only provided one of his songs - Things Have Changed - for the spot but also appears narrating it. It is 'interspersed with bold American imagery covering the nation's most iconic paved roads, beaches, diners and well-known personalities' - not just Bob young and old, but James Dean, Marilyn Monroe and basketball legend Julius Erving, too.

The Jeep focused on the 2014 Cherokee and shows both people and it in endless search of adventure, building on the 'Built Free' advertising launch campaign of the new model.

Anything else?

You can watch both adverts, on the official YouTube channels of both brands, here:
