What's the news?

Skoda UK has announced a pair of special editions Rapid hatchbacks that come loaded with kit for not a lot of money. For the sake of clarity both of the special editions are based on the 'saloon' hatchback rather than the hatchback 'Sportback' (confusing we know).

The first of the duo is the Rapid SE Connect, which takes the Rapid 1.2-litre TSI 86hp SE as its base and throws more than £3,600 worth of kit at it. This added equipment includes 16-inch 'Antia' alloy wheels, rear parking sensors and an Amundsen satellite navigation system with DAB digital radio. The Rapid SE Connect is also available in either Brilliant Silver or Denim Blue paintwork and is priced at £12,990. Only 800 SE Connects will be produced.

The second special edition will be even rarer with only 200 Rapid Sport models being offered. It is based on the 105hp 1.2-litre TSI SE, but includes additional equipment such as 17-inch 'Ray' black alloy wheels, sunset glass, front fog lights, sports seats,, black door mirrors and a rear spoiler. The Rapid Sport is only available in Candy White and packs more than £1,200 worth of extras, not bad considering the price of £15,630.

Best move quick though, offers like these are likely to sell fast.
