What's the news?
A new road-going supercar will make its debut at the Autosport International Show this coming weekend, the Sin R1. First seen in prototype form at last year's show the R1 is the product of a joint venture between Daventry-Based ProFormance Metals and Sin Cars GmbH of Munich.
Power comes from a mid-mounted Chevrolet Corvette-sourced 6.2-litre V8 engine connected to a Porsche 911 GT2 transaxle. With a quoted weight of 1,200kg the road car is about 200kg heavier than the racing version, which will also be at the show. The claimed 0-62mph time for the track car is 2.5 seconds and the top speed is said to be 200mph - the road car is unlikely to be much slower.
Construction is a mixture of carbon composite tub with tubular spaceframe. It also incorporates a Formula 1-style fuel tank and brakes by AP Racing. The bodywork may not look very adventurous but it does generate almost 250kg of downforce.
Pricing for the R1 is expected to start at around £60,000.
Anything else?
The Sin R1 made an appearance in the Michelin Supercar Run at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in June. Development work has also included three rounds of the GT Cup, running second in class at one stage during the final round at Donington. It is expected that three or four teams will be using the car in the 2014 GT Cup.
