What's the news?
Dates have now been announced for the annual petrolhead pilgrimage that is the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The 2014 event will be held on the weekend spanning the 26th-29th June and it will be themed 'Addicted to winning - the unbeatable champions of motorsport'.
The honourees at next year's event will be comprised of manufacturers, drivers and riders; as motorcyclists such as Valentino Rossi, Mike Hailwood and Giacomo Agostini will have their names in lights. Mentionable manufacturers include the Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrows, Lotus, Porsche and Bentley for its five Le Mans victories in the 1920s. Fangio's five Formula One titles will also be recognised. Milestones in motorsport are not to be forgotten either, so 100 years since the 1914 French Grand Prix, 50 years since Mini won its first Monte Carlo Rally and 40 years since McLaren won its first Formula One title are also set to be marked.
Despite the motorsport theme, Goodwood will also be celebrating other motoring events; of which there are a couple that stand out in 2014. Namely the centenary of Maserati, and the 60th anniversary of the legendary Jaguar D-Type.
As well as all this, Goodwood will be returning once again with the Moving Motor Show on 26th June; the famous hillclimb course; and the concours d'elegance - of which Maserati has its own category to mark the company's 100th anniversary.
The Goodwood Revival has also been set for the 12th-14th September 2014.
