What's the news?
The Regent Street Motor Show that runs on Saturday 2nd November was previewed this week by a trio of cars parading down the famous shopping street. The cars involved were an Aston Martin Vanquish, a 1903 Daimler and a Renault ZOE; each representing various aspects that will make up this year's show.
Earmarked as being the biggest ever version of the UK's largest free motor show, the 2013 event is scheduled to have more than 300 cars on display, stretching - for the first time - from Oxford Circus all the way to Piccadilly Circus. Taking part in the display will be 125 years of motoring history as well as some very special occasions.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Porsche 911 and centenary celebrations for Aston Martin - the latter of which was represented by the brand new Vanquish seen on Regent Street already.
The Renault ZOE took to the streets on behalf of Renault's presence at this year's show, but also to signify the next generation of electric powertrains that are set to feature greatly at the event.
Finally, the 1903 Daimler marks the forthcoming display of 100 pre-1905 veteran cars that are to drive from London to Brighton on Sunday 3rd November. These cars are also scheduled to participate in a Concours d'Elegance during the main show.
"The annual Regent Street Motor Show is a truly unique event," said Ben Cussons, Chairman of the Royal Automobile Club Motoring Committee. "It is not only set in one of the world's most famous shopping streets, but, featuring such a comprehensive collection of amazing cars, also provides a truly amazing spectacle. With the road closure stretching all the way up to Oxford Circus, there will be even more eye-catching displays to enjoy."
