What's the news?
Prices have been announced for the Skoda Rapid Spaceback. The new hatchback is available from £14,340 and customers can choose five engines with three trim levels: S, SE and Elegance. Expect the first cars to arrive in the UK by January 2014.
Three petrol and two diesel engines are offered with power outputs ranging from 86- to 122hp; manual and automatic gearboxes are available on some models while the most powerful Rapid is DSG automatic only.
Standard equipment includes air conditioning, curtain airbags and a steering column adjustable for height and reach. Additionally the SE comes with alloy wheels, rear parking sensors and Bluetooth. The Elegance model features climate control, cornering front fog lamps and a trip computer. Options include a panoramic glass roof and extended tailgate glass to give the Spaceback a more distinctive look.
Anything else?
There is no word on whether the four-wheel drive models will come to the UK but there is a low-CO2 GreenLine variant, with 99g/km emissions, on the way; details will be announced shortly.
