What's the news?
It has now been confirmed that the 2013 Regent Street Motor Show will stretch from Oxford Circus right down to Piccadilly Circus for the first time ever - making this year's event the biggest one yet.
On display is a 125-year history of motoring featuring more than 100 pre-1905 vehicles that will be showcased at the north end of Regent Street. Also included in the 2013 show are celebrations from Porsche and Aston Martin - marking 50- and 100-year anniversaries respectively. Other companies confirmed for the show include BMW and Renault, both of whom will be rocking up in their latest offerings.
The Regent Street Motor Show is the build-up event to the annual London to Brighton Veteran Car Run that starts in Hyde Park the following day. The vehicles taking part in the run will also be participating in a dedicated EFG International Concours d'Elegance at the Motor Show.
Despite the enormous collection of cars, entrance to the event is completely free; as it is part of a massive motoring weekend hosted by the Royal Automobile Club.
"The annual Regent Street Motor Show is a truly unique event," comments Ben Cussons, Chairman of the Royal Automobile Club Motoring Committee. "It is set in one of the world's most famous shopping streets right in the heart of the buzzing West End, featuring such a comprehensive collection of amazing cars. It provides a truly amazing spectacle."
In addition to the fee-free entry, all of Regent Street's famous branded shops are open too; making it an ideal family occasion.
"The Crown Estate's recent investment in Regent Street has made it a must visit shopping and dining destination and The Regent Street Motor Show, displaying cars from the past, present and future, provides a good reason for visitors to come who possibly have no idea how the street has been transformed into the best shopping street in the West End," said Annie Walker, Director of the Regent Street Association.
Anything else?
The 2013 Regent Street Motor Show will run on Saturday 2nd November with the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run taking place on Sunday 3rd. More information on both events will be revealed in the coming weeks.
