What's the news?
Customers buying a new Fiesta ST or Focus ST can now enjoy a power boost thanks to officially sanctioned Mountune modifications. The packages give an extra 25hp for the Focus and 33hp for the Fiesta and cost £1,225 and £599 respectively.
Upgraded parts for the Focus include a cast alloy inlet duct, larger intercooler and high-flow air filter element. Customers can choose between silver and black powder coating for the alloy parts (black costs £50 extra). On the Fiesta the air box base is re-modelled with a secondary inlet duct and again there is a high-flow air filter.
In the Focus ST that adds up to 275hp and 400Nm for a claimed 0-62mph time of less than six seconds - more than half a second faster than standard. In-gear performance is improved with fourth gear acceleration from 31- to 62mph taking 4.9 seconds, down by 0.8 of a second. For the Fiesta ST there is 215hp and 320Nm, cutting the 0-62mph time by 0.2 seconds to a claimed 6.7 seconds and the 31- to 62mph time in fourth gear goes from 6.4- to 5.7 seconds.
Anything else?
There are 120 dealers authorised to supply and fit the Mountune parts and the modifications are covered by the standard Ford warranty for three years or 60,000 miles from the date of purchase.
Ford Team RS engineering manager, Tyrone Johnson, commented; "Ford's ST models already deliver blistering performance - for these Mountune upgrades we have squeezed out every last drop of fun and served it on a plate to the fans that are as passionate about performance as we are".
