What's the news?
Suzuki has announced that a five-door variant of its Swift Sport junior hot hatch is now available to order. As well as making this new model more accessible for back-seat passengers various styling tweaks have been made due to its 2013 refresh.
Exterior
The five-door Swift Sport largely mimics the regular three-door version in terms of styling and shape. The 2013 update introduces a new Boost Blue metallic paint finish (pictured), as well as the addition of an LED high-mounted brake light. Each Sport model also comes with a bespoke twin-exit exhaust system, rear diffuser, front fog lamps and rear privacy glass as standard.
Interior
The sportier cabin from the three-door Swift Sport now sees itself in the five-door model; although the twin rear seats have been replaced by a bench to allow seating for three. Automatic air conditioning, cruise control, Bluetooth connectivity and a starter button also feature as standard items in the Swift Sport.
Mechanicals
Under the bonnet is Suzuki's 1.6-litre VVT petrol engine, offering 136hp and 160Nm of torque to play with. A six-speed gearbox is standard, while the enhanced braking and steering should keep things stable through the bends.
Fuel economy sits at a respectable 44.1mpg, with CO2 emissions at 147g/km.
Anything else?
Prices for the new five-door Swift Sport start at £14,249 - a £500 premium over the existing three-door model. All versions also come with a three-year/60,000-mile warranty, one years' AA Suzuki Roadside Assistance, and a 12-year perforation warranty at no extra charge.
