What's the news?
Salon Privé will see the first UK appearance of the one-off Icona Vulcano supercar. First seen earlier this year at the Shanghai Motor Show, the company is based in the same city and the Vulcano was produced by a team headed by Claudio Lombardi - the former Scuderia Ferrari technical director. The car is valued at £2.6 million.
Exterior
The shape apparently incorporates the theme of 'dynamic triangles' designed to evoke the company logo. Designer Samuel Chuffart's bodywork features a number of air intakes and outlets and the sculpted sides are intended to draw air out of the engine bay and minimise turbulence generated by the wheels.
Interior
Icona has given the Vulcano a simple yet modern interior. The driver gets a wraparound console that sweeps down into the centre tunnel. There are just two seats, finished in tan leather.
Mechanicals
Under the bonnet is a V12 engine that develops 950hp in conjunction with an electric motor. Performance claims include a 217mph top speed, 0-62mph in three seconds dead with 124mph coming up just 6.2 seconds later.
Anything else?
Salon Privé runs from 4th to 6th September at Syon Park, West London. The show's Sales Director, David Bagley, commented: "Icona is a very exciting new brand and we are delighted that it has chosen Salon Privé for the UK debut of the Vulcano. It's a beautiful car and it is going to look fantastic within the Concepts & Prototypes Display."
