What's the news?
Mercedes-Benz has announced that it will be altering its SL range by making both the SL 350 and SL 500 available as AMG Sport models. SL 63 AMG buyers will also benefit as there is now more equipment fitted as standard.
Exterior
Both AMG Sport models now come with AMG front and rear bumpers, AMG side skirts, a rear lip spoiler, a lower ride height and 19-inch five-spoke AMG alloys. The SL's exterior colour pallet has been revamped too; it now comprises of one solid and five metallic colours, including the now standard Polar White finish.
Interior
Inside, black leather comes as standard across the range; although AMG Sport models feature contrasting white piping on the seats, armrests and centre console. A sports steering wheel has also been fitted; as has a black fabric headlining and AMG-branded floor mats. Aluminium inserts adorn the SL's dashboard, although Black Ash wood can be had as an option.
In terms of toys, Mercedes has added Parktronic with Active Park Assist to the AMG Sport versions of the SL 350 and SL 500, as well as to the SL 63 AMG. A panoramic electric glass sunroof has also been fitted to these models.
Mechanicals
The AMG Sport package adds sports suspension and an upgraded 7G-Tronic Plus gearbox to the SL - upgraded brakes feature on the SL 350 as well. Power outputs and engine specs have remained the same across the range.
Anything else?
The enhancements to the SL range will be implemented in June this year. Prices will start from £69,960, £79,970 and £110,785 for the SL 350 AMG Sport, SL 500 AMG Sport and SL 63 AMG respectively.
