What's the news?
Ford has created a new version of its high-powered F-150 SVT Raptor pick-up after customers suggested they wanted more exclusivity from the model. The Special Edition version therefore features bespoke interior and exterior detailing, while still offering the same off-road performance.
Exterior
The Special Edition version is built on the existing Luxury Package. A choice of Ruby Red and Tuxedo Black Metallic paint finishes can be had, both of which come with 'RAPTOR' box-detailing up the side. The skid plates and chunky off-road tyres are carried forward from the standard model, as well as the car's imposing overall image.
Interior
To match the exterior colour scheme, Ford has reupholstered the seats with a two-tone red and black combination. A console-top finish panel has also been fitted, as have revised door panels and centre console detailing. The Special Edition model features no additional gadgets; however it does come with Ford's SYNC with MyFord Touch - allowing for greater connectivity with smartphones.
Mechanicals
The brutish appearance of the F-150 SVT Raptor Special Edition is matched by the monster under the bonnet. Its 6.2-litre V8 engine pumps out 414hp and
588Nm of torque. This is paired with a six-speed automatic gearbox. To further aid its off-road capability the model is equipped with triple-bypass FOX Racing Shox dampers, a Torsen limited slip differential and a transfer box that can be selected on the move.
Anything else?
The Ford F-150 SVT Raptor Special Edition hits the US market in autumn 2013. UK availability is unexpected, but we're sure that a few imports may end up on our roads.
