What's the news?
Radical has released details of its new, entry-level track car, the SR1. It has been designed for track days and club motorsport. Supercar humbling circuit performance is promised.
Exterior
Styled by the same team that designed the Radical SR9 LMP2 racing car the SR1 deliberately copies the look of a Le Mans prototype. The body has been created to generate downforce that helps the car stick to the track.
Interior
Don't look for fine leather or the latest infotainment system, as the SR1 comes with nothing except the essentials. That includes two seats with racing harnesses, an integrated fire extinguisher and FIA-approved safety cell and crash structure.
Mechanicals
A RPE-Suzuki engine, developing 212hp, powers the SR1. Drive is transmitted through a six-speed sequential gearbox to a Quaife differential on the rear axle. There are 240mm ventilated disks and four-pot callipers to take care of stopping while Radical-specific Dunlop tyres promise plenty of grip.
Anything else?
Radical's performance figures include 0-60mph in 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 138mph. It also claims that the SR1 can pull 1.8 G under braking and 2.3 G around corners. Prices start at £35,820.
