The Master Maserati driving course, an exclusive program for well-heeled fans and owners of Maserati cars, has been running for a number of years with participants given the opportunity to get hot and heavy with the best the Trident brand has to offer around the Autodromo Riccardo Paletti just outside Parma in Italy. For 2012 the luxury manufacturer will inject some Italian magic into the largely track based proceedings with the new Master Italian Lifestyle Experience that Maserati describes as a five-star 'lifestyle' programme combining circuit and road driving, together with a tour of Florence.
There is a lot of fluff about art, fashion and bespoke craftsmanship used in the description of the £4,087 trip, but essentially it boils down to Maserati wanting to show its cars in the surroundings it feels suits them best - the cobbled streets of Florence and the surrounding hills for example.
For those who just want to rag the cars around the track there are two separate programs where, under close scrutiny of the professionally trained instructors, you will be shown the fine art of controlling oversteer and how to drive on low grip surfaces - much more like it. There is however the small matter of the £4,020 asking price for the two-day course or £1,663 for the single day.
Wonder how healthy the
Car Enthusiast expense account is...
