What is it?
Don't get confused: it might be called the Bi-Turbo, but this is no hypercar - those blowers are attached to a diesel engine, not a highly-strung petrol unit. So it's a more powerful diesel rep-mobile, with nearly 200hp and sub-130g/km CO2 emissions. We've already seen the engine, and various suspension and drivetrain options, in the short-lived Saab 9-5 - before GM killed the brand.
Why's it here?
The Insignia's diesel options have been rather limited until now, missing that high-power unit that is becoming so fashionable with today's consumers and company car buyers' demand. This car fills that gap, and certainly based on the specification sheet it deserves to be a success.
Show stopper or floor filler?
Well Vauxhall is claiming that this is a 'halo diesel model', which it probably is, but if this is the car to draw people into the showrooms then Houston you have a problem. It looks like an Insignia, it will drive just like an Insignia, in fact it is an Insignia - a floor filler that people will barely notice amongst the new metal at the show.
