Ordinarily, when an email from Mansory hits the
Car Enthusiast inbox it is promptly binned before the attached images do damage to our eyes. The Bavarian styling house does have past form for turning out some rather questionable versions of cars from Bentley, Aston Martin and Ferrari. However, the latest creation to emerge from Mansory, its take on the McLaren MP4-12C, actually works.
Set to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show next week, the Mansory MP4-12C takes everything that isn't carbon fibre - like the roof, front and rear aprons, mirror housings and wings - and makes it carbon fibre. The bodywork is also extended by 60mm while a newly designed side sill 'steadies the airflow between the two axles'. Considering McLaren's army of F1 engineers we are surprised they did not think of that first, especially if Mansory's assertions that its boosts downforce, performance, and - because of the lower weight - fuel economy are proved right.
Not content with changing the looks of the MP4-12C Mansory also fiddled around under the bonnet adding a new high-performance exhaust system, a sports air filter and a remapped engine management system to boost output from 608hp and 600Nm to 670hp and 675Nm. The increased power is fed to the tarmac via custom 20-inch wheels with 245/30 ZR20 tyres at the front, and 21-inch items with 305/25 ZR21 tyres at the rear.
The Mansory MP4-12C will be officially unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show that opens to the media on March 6.
