When you've got a market the size of North America to sell your cars to, it makes sense to listen to your customers, which is where the Chevrolet Tru 140S comes in. Nearly 80 million members of the US public are nearing 30 years old and, according to Chevrolet, they're a core car buyer, representing around 40 per cent of the country's automotive consumers.
The Tru 140S is said to embody all that they want in a car, offering functionality with the added bonus of up to the minute coupé looks. A full four-seater, the matt white model has been, in the words of Chevrolet itself" designed to look confident, exotic, expensive and fast". Based on the same platform as the Cruze and Volt, it promises to be as exciting to drive as it is to look at, with power coming from a 1.4-litre turbocharged engine producing 158bhp and 148lb.ft of torque.
The firm realises the cabin is a huge part of the car's appeal, so Chevrolet has yet to finalise the design, wanting to keep its discussion with its trendsetting customers open before signing it off. Whatever the outcome of the talks, it does realise the car needs to become the occupant's personal docking station with the aid of MyLink and Wi-Fi connectivity.
