We have never really found the Nissan GT-R lacking in the performance department, although the recently announced power upgrade was roundly welcomed. But obviously there are some drivers who have found the R35 a little lacking around the track as Nissan has seen fit to add a new Track Pack option to its 2012 model.
Carrying a £10,000 premium over the standard car, the Track Pack does away with the rear seats to save weight, features track-focused suspension settings and additional cooling ducts that help reduce the temperature of the brakes by as much as 100 degrees when being pushed hard. These changes have been made with the sole purpose of turning the GT-R into a more focused car on the race circuit that will allow owners to push their cars further as they aim to improve their lap times.
Visually there is little to separate the Track Pack from the standard GT-R save for new lightweight RAYS alloys, Recaro seats with blue bolsters and a Track Pack emblem on the centre console.
Featuring the same uprated 542bhp engine as the rest of the 2012 range the Track Pack edition will be able to accelerate from 0-60mph in just 2.7 seconds. Orders for the Track Pack and all 2012 GT-Rs are now being taken at the 21 Nissan High Performance Centres around the UK with first deliveries expected in March.
