To most UK buyers Saturn is a planet in our solar system, but in the US, General Motors uses the name for its "young" brand, designed to compete with those pesky Japanese imports... Things have not really gone the way of the Saturn brand though, as the Japanese cars tend to be more interesting than the dull models on offer from Saturn. GM has high hopes to change that. Last year we saw the launch of the Saturn Vue and at the
2005 Detroit Auto Show Saturn will reveal the Sky sports car.
All we know so far is that the Sky will be rear-wheel drive and have just two seats, which means it will be built on the same platform as Pontiac's new two-seater. There were hopes that Vauxhall would utilise this floorpan to replace the
VX220 in the UK (Opel Speedster elsewhere), but this is not yet a certainty. Perhaps we will learn more in January.
