Chevrolet has confirmed that its five-door Cruze hatchback will cost from £13,995 and be in showrooms from July. It also heralds the arrival of a new 161bhp turbodiesel to the Cruze range.
At £13,995 is the 1.6-litre, 122bhp petrol model in LS trim that includes air conditioning, electric front windows, heated door mirrors and CD stereo. The LT trim adds cruise control, rear electric windows, parking sensors, alloy wheels and front fog lights. Go for the LTZ and you get Bluetooth connection, rain-sensing wipers, larger alloy wheels and automatic headlights.
The cheapest model with the new diesel engine is the £17,195 2.0 VCDi in LT trim. This engine will provide economy and emissions very similar to the saloon's 50.4mpg and 147g/km. A 1.8-litre petrol engine is also available.
