Vauxhall has updated the Insignia with a new ecoFLEX diesel engine with 10% lower CO2 emissions and a new 1.4-litre petrol engine.
The 2.0-litre diesel engine now comes with stop-start. Combined with improved aerodynamics and low rolling resistance tyres, the official emissions figure is now 115g/km - down from 129g/km. Two power outputs are offered, 128- and 158bhp, the former promising 0-60mph in 10.4 seconds according to the manufacturer's figures, while the latter is claimed to cover the increment in 8.9 seconds.
Customers who prefer petrol power can choose a new 1.4-litre, turbocharged petrol engine. The torque output for the new motor is 148lb.ft. In saloon and hatchback form this Insignia returns 51.4mpg with CO2 emissions of 129g/km.
Vauxhall has also given the Insignia updated 18-inch alloys and a choice of new satellite navigation systems. Prices start at £20,345 for the diesel models while the 1.4 petrol version is available from £18,680.
