The Austin A35 van that James Hunt preferred driving on to the road to any other car is up for sale.
After 18 years in storage, the Austin A35 Van Countryman conversion - which means it has windows in the back rather than metal panels - was used by Hunt right up to his death in 1993. It was his daily transport and used to transport his beloved budgerigars. It even still has some bird seed in the in the cabin and a few cigarette butts of Hunt's in the ashtrays.
Hunt was notorious for his driving style in the A35, sliding it round corners and taking on any sports cars he came across in London.
In working condition, the A35 van needs some work to make it road legal, but it comes with a registration document with Hunt's name on it to confirm its status.
Alongside the A35 van, Hunt's Formula One Hesketh 308/2 race car will be up for auction at the same time at Silverstone Auction's 23 July sale.
