Given the success of the
Porsche 911 and
Boxster S Black Editions it was inevitable that there would be a darkly-painted limited edition version of the Cayman. Here it is, the Cayman S Black Edition.
Like the Boxster S before it, the Cayman receives a useful power boost, up 10bhp to 325bhp. The mid-mounted 3.4-litre flat-six engine pushes the Black Edition to a top speed of 173mph if you opt for the manual gearbox and can cover the 0-62mph sprint in just 4.8 seconds if you pay more for the PDK dual-clutch transmission and the Sport Chrono package.
Only 500 examples of the Cayman S Black Edition will be made - for sale worldwide - and each will, unsurprisingly, be finished in black. It borrows the Boxster Spyder's 19-inch lightweight wheels and they're also painted black. Inside, you guessed it, it's black on black, though the stainless steel kick-plates with 'Black Edition' written on them should break it up a little.
As should the colour screen of the standard Porsche Communication Management (PCM) infotainment system. That's part of a generous specification that includes Bluetooth, cruise control, part-leather seats, Bi-Xenon and LED lights, climate control and the all-important individually numbered badge affixed to the lid of the glovebox.
Right-hand drive examples of the Black Edition go on sale in September, starting at £50,420.
