For us, the best television star cars are the Sweeney's Ford Granada Mk1 and the Professional's Capri, but democracy has decreed David Hasselhoff's co-star KITT is the nation's favourite TV car.
The survey of television show addicts showed KITT, the all-talking, all-knowing and all-conquering Pontiac Trans-Am is the most popular car on the box. With acting ability to make the Hoff look as wooden as a kitchen table, it's no wonder the car has upstaged the competition.
Louis Rix, marketing director of
carfinance247.co.uk/, who carried out the survey, said: "Fast, cool and filled with a wonderful array of gizmos and gadgets, it was and still is the dream car."
In a close-run second spot comes Del Boy Trotter's Reliant Regal van, even though most episodes of Only Fools and Horses were filmed more than 25 years ago. Following up this was Batman's Batmobile in third place.
The came those good ol' boys' The General Lee from the Dukes of Hazard, while a little more sedately Inspector Morse's Jaguar Mk2 appeared in fifth place.
Mind you, we still have a soft spot for The Avengers' Emma Peel in a Lotus Elan, though that may be for reasons other than the car...
