Motorsport specialist Reiter Engineering has tuned lots of Lamborghinis, but has there ever been a Reiter Gallardo than this? (Sorry.)
This is the Lamborghini Gallardo LP600+, perhaps the most extreme Gallardo ever made. It's tuned to GT3 racing specification, with a 592bhp V10 engine linked to a strengthened gearbox driving all four wheels.
Myriad of obvious aerodynamic bits aside, the LP600+ gets lightweight alloys, a seriously dropped ride height thanks to chopped and tuned suspension, plastic side windows and windscreen, beefy AP brakes and lots of carbon fibre, enabling a significant weight drop. The LP 560-4 weighs 1,410kg; this weighs just 1,190kg.
Our favourite part is a toss up between the vents on the engine cover and the brilliantly redesigned exhaust system, whose twin pipes poke out of the mesh strip between the rear lights.
The cockpit is almost entirely stripped out, with a minimal centre console, some serious racing chairs and an exposed white FIA-approved rollcage. Reiter doesn't say what the 0-62mph time is, but its closely stacked gear ratios mean a top speed of 175mph.
Available now, the asking price is €288,000, which is a shade under £250,000 in proper currency. Sounds a lot, but as of today (6 January 2011) there's a four-tonne amphibious kit car for sale on eBay for £500,000. Context.
