What is it?
Alfa has launched a twin-clutch automatic gearbox called TCT - showcased at the Paris show in a 1.4-litre MultiAir Giulietta. It will also be rolled out to the 168bhp 2.0-litre JTDm diesel model.
Why's it here?
It's Alfa trying to become the proper Volkswagen rival we all desperately wish it to be; TCT is DSG, basically. The six-speed twin-clutch automatic transmission was developed by Fiat and goes into the MiTo too.
Show stopper or floor filler?
This is really all there is to Alfa's stand - well, this and the usual smattering of lovely Italian ladies, obviously. The TCT 'box makes the 135bhp 1.4-litre MultiAir MiTo quicker to 62mph by 0.2 seconds, and a little cleaner - by 3g/km, to be exact. Is that show stopping?
