Infiniti's M line models have arrived in the UK. First to go on sale is the petrol-powered M 37, which costs £35,150.
Power comes from a 3.7-litre V6 developing 316bhp. Infiniti claims a 0-62mph time of 6.2 seconds and a top speed limited to 155mph. On the combined cycle the M 37 manages 27.7mpg and has 235g/km CO2 emissions.
Standard specification for the M 37 includes seven-speed automatic transmission, bi-xenon headlamps, power front seats and a reversing camera. Customers choosing the GT grade (which adds £2,500 to the price) get semi-aniline leather on heated and ventilated seats and White Ash wood trim. Sporting drivers will choose the M 37S (£39,650), which comes with 20-inch alloy wheels, sports suspension and four-wheel active steering (4WAS).
The top equipment is reserved for the Premium versions of the GT and S, which cost up to £45,000. Features include Blind Spot Intervention to prevent the M 37 moving into the path of another vehicle, Active Noise Control and Forest Air, which apparently recreates the breeze and scents of the forest to 'promote alertness and relieve stress'.
In October the diesel M 30d will join the range while the M 35h hybrid will follow in spring 2011.
