Mercedes-Benz has unveiled an updated version of its large CL coupé at the Mercedes-Benz World in Brooklands. The mid-life refresh focuses on reducing CO2 and improving fuel economy.
The CL 500 BlueEFFICIENCY is fitted with an all-new bi-turbo V8 engine now offering 429bhp (up from 383bhp), and 516;b.ft of torque (up from 391lb.ft). Fuel consumption has improved by 23 per cent to 29.7mpg with CO2 emissions now 224g/km. The reduced CO2 is achieved by improvements in to the direct injection system and the addition of a start/stop function. New safety offerings include Active Lane Keeping Assist and Active Blind Spot Assist.
The special order, CL 600, with 510bhp from its 12-cylinder bi-turbo engine, hits 62mph in just 4.6 seconds and now meets Euro 5 emissions control standards. CO2 emissions are 322g/km.
A redesigned front bumper with an integrated LED strip for daytime running lights and re-styled rear tail lamps top off the minor tweaks to the CL's exterior.
The new Mercedes-Benz CL-Class is due in the UK this September.
