Next on the agenda for Jaguar's celebration of its 75th anniversary is the launch of a limited edition version of the XKR Coupé. On July 2 the XKR 75 will make its world debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed before going on sale for a price of £85,500. Only 75 examples will be made.
The XKR 75 features so much more than a fancy paint job, big wheels and a body kit - though it also has all of those. Jaguar has uprated the supercharged 5.0-litre engine to produce 523bhp and 483lb.ft of torque (in comparison to 503bhp and 461lb.ft for the standard car). Top speed is limited to 174mph, though the 0-60mph time has dropped from 4.6- to 4.4 seconds.
Significant changes have been made to the chassis too, with a reduced ride height, stiffer springs and increased damper rates all-round. The Adaptive Dynamics (active damping) and Active Differential Control have also been modified in a bid to increase stability, while making the XKR more engaging. Further aiding high-speed stability is an aerodynamic body kit comprising front splitter, side sills, rear diffuser and spoiler.
Naturally the aerodynamic add-ons enhance the car's visual appeal too. Buyers can choose whether they want the additional body graphic shown in the images, though all 75 examples will be finished in Stratus Grey, with red brake callipers and 20-inch gloss Vortex forged alloy wheels.
Interior enhancements are modest, including Charcoal leather with ivory stitch, piano black trim and a 'Jet' suede cloth headlining. Along with the obligatory bespoke sill entry plates of course.
The final touch is a sports exhaust with a semi-active element that should ensure the V8 is more audible when it's being used as intended. No doubt the crowds in Goodwood will enjoy that one.
