Porsche has improved the Cayenne and Cayenne Diesel with a variety of features designed to reduce fuel consumption.
Thanks to a new eight-speed Tiptronic S transmission, Auto Start Stop and a reduction in weight the SUV uses less fuel than before. On the combined cycle the 3.6-litre petrol model manages 28.5mpg and the diesel 38.2mpg with CO
2 emissions of 236- and 195g/km respectively. Although the petrol V6 is also available with a six-speed manual gearbox, there is a 3.1mpg penalty for changing your own gears.
The manual Cayenne is marginally faster to 62mph though at 7.5 seconds, compared with 7.8 for the automatic according to Porsche's figures. Top speed is the same regardless of transmission at 143mph. The diesel also needs 7.8 seconds to reach 62mph and will reach 135mph.
The new Cayenne is on sale now with the petrol model costing £41,404 and the diesel £44,178.
