Just in case you've missed the news, 2010 is Alfa Romeo's centenary year. As part of its celebrations the marque will have a strong presence on this year's Mille Miglia retrospective. Between 1928 and 1947 Alfa achieved eleven consecutive victories in the epic road race.
The company museum has made five historic Alfas available for the run along with three privately owned cars to make up the official team. The oldest entrant is a 1928 6C 1500 Super Sport, identical to the car driven to victory in 1928. Also on the team are two 1750 Gran Sports from the thirties, a 1951 6C 2500 Cabriolet and a 1900 Super Sprint from 1956.
As well as historic models the current range will be well represented. Five examples of the new Giulietta will be driven by journalists following the 1,000-mile race route and a further 18 will be used by race organisers alongside MiTos and 159s.
The event will start in Brescia on 6th May and run through Bologna, Rome and take in Fiorano and Imola race circuits before returning to Brescia on 8th May.
