We'll not beat around the bush; there's not a lot to tell you about the updated Lexus IS F. If you've read what we've said about it in the past then you'll know that's no bad thing. Really keen drivers will be delighted to hear that a limited slip differential is now standard equipment, while everyone else will appreciate the upgraded infotainment.
The mechanical differential should greatly enhance traction and stability when you're really pushing on. It replaces the 'electronic differential' of the original IS F. The Torsen design has apparently allowed the test engineers to drop two seconds off their best time around the Fuji International Speedway. Bet that was a difficult day at the office... Performance is unchanged with a top speed of 168mph and 0-62mph in 4.8 seconds.
Helping you find your way to the track in the first place is what sounds like an impressive new satellite navigation system. Lexus claims that the 40Gb hard disc drive-based device is one of the 'fastest-responding and most accurate guidance systems on the market', though it would say that, wouldn't it?
There's space on the system for 10Gb of your own music and Lexus has added a USB interface and DAB reception to the already quite impressive Mark Levinson stereo.
IS F buyers get an extra couple of no-cost options to help distinguish their cars. There are new 'mesh-design' 19-inch alloy wheels (not to be confused with the 10-spoke items pictured on the car above) and a new bright white leather interior.
Lexus will sell you an updated IS F right now, for the princely sum of £55,595 on-the-road.
