The 2uettottanta is Pininfarina's way of suggesting to Alfa Romeo that its designers should be allowed to create the next Spider. The result is quite gorgeous. The 2uettottanta name apparently evokes the Duetto and 80 years of activity at Pininfarina. With Alfa Romeo celebrating its centenary this year Pininfarina is also calling the 2uettottanta a celebration of the two company's long-standing alliance.
Why's it here?
To wow the crowds and show everyone just how a new Alfa Romeo Spider could look. Pininfarina's designers have been given carte-blanche to produce their interpretation of how a simple Alfa two-seat sports car should look and this is the result. Power comes from a longitudinally positioned 1,750cc turbocharged engine that presumably drives the rear wheels. It utilises Alfa's DNA selector that offers Dynamic, Normal and All Weather modes, adjusting the suspension, transmission, steering and braking systems accordingly.
Show stopper or floor filler?
The concept is parked on Pininfarina's stand right at the top of one of the escalators entering the show; if this beauty doesn't cause come congestion then there's no hope for car lovers.
