Infiniti will give its new M line model its European debut at the
Geneva Motor Show next week. It sits above the G model in the range and comes with a choice of six-cylinder petrol or diesel power with a hybrid version to arrive later.
Details of the new 3.0-litre turbodiesel engine have been released including 235bhp maximum power and 406lb.ft peak torque. The hybrid variant is due in 2011 with a petrol-electric drivetrain.
Along with high-tech safety, comfort and economy-boosting features there are some more traditional weight and fuel-saving measures. As well as extensive use of aluminium the M has a low 0.27 drag coefficient. Infiniti also claims zero high-speed lift thanks to the 'duck tail' spoiler shaped into the boot lid.
The M line is offered with a range of leathers including the option of a semi-aniline hide. Infiniti also claims a motor industry first for its use of White Ash wood trim with 'silver power finish'.
At Geneva the petrol-powered M37 S - described as the most driver-focussed variant - will be on display. Prices and final specifications will be announced before the M line goes on sale in September.
