With the MX-5 reaching its twentieth production year, Mazda has decided to release a special version to commemorate the occasion. Limited to a production run of 2,000, the model is based on the 1.8-litre SE and is only available for purchase in Europe.
Most of the changes to this variant of the MX-5 are aesthetic, with the most notable including bespoke 17-inch alloy wheels and a chrome grille, door handles and headlight fascia. The car can be ordered in three colours: True Red, Crystal White Pearl and Aurora Blue. However, aside from superficial revisions, there have been minor tweaks made to mechanical components such as the new front suspension bracing bar. Mazda says that this has been added to make the MX-5 sportier to drive.
Aside from the limited edition MX-5, Mazda will be showcasing two other new models at Geneva: the
all-new Mazda5 and the
facelifted Mazda6. The Mazda5 gets a 'Karakui' interior that includes sliding rear doors for ease of access and the option of carrying up to seven people.
All three models can be seen at the
Geneva Motor Show from 4-14 March.
