For its entry in the LA Design Challenge Nissan has imagined a futuristic re-interpretation of the American West Coast customising scene. The electric Nissan V2G is taken 'off grid' to become the V2G [UNLMTD].
Nissan's vision of the future world is one of electric highways that make up a high-speed transport grid. The Nissan V2G (vehicle to grid) is the best-selling 'electric mobility device' in this world. V2Gs can travel on the grid, interlinked in 'flocks', at speeds up to 230mph.
Young people in Los Angeles in 2030 rediscover the car as a means of self expression. Extending the principle of mobile phone hacking to their vehicles they have customised their V2Gs and taken them 'off grid'. Just as with today's cars the modifications include styling and performance upgrades.
To capitalise on this demand for modifications, initially met by third parties, Nissan offers its own range of accessories. As well as changing the look of the car there are modifications that allow 'off grid' operation where V2Gs can use the old-style road system with the few remaining non-grid compliant cars.
The 'limitless customisation options' and freedom from the sanctioned highway grid explain why Nissan's concept is known as the V2G [UNLMTD].
