This is the SPR1 T80. It has 858bhp.
Thought that might have gotten your attention. It's obviously Porsche 911-based, but the SPR1 T80 so much more than a headline grabbing, barnyard conversion. Despite that, maker Sportec is still courting the sensational by claiming the T80's astonishing output is 'akin to having a
Golf GTI powering each tyre'. Fair enough.
Stuff like this is pure flight of fancy to the majority of us, so in some regards it doesn't really matter how well it copes with that amount of power - it only matters that it actually has so much. Let's run through the figures and imagine what it would be like shepherding that many horses, all the while remaining in a safe, risk-of-combustion free zone.
The bi-turbo 3.6-litre flat-six engine, which is Euro IV emissions compliant, oddly, takes exactly three seconds to hit 62mph and won't stop until it reaches 236mph. Reaching 186mph takes a mere 18.9 seconds, which is quicker than it takes a
Smart Fortwo Passion to hit 62mph, if you're interested.
This ludicrous speed is to do with its weight as much as the insane power output because it's built from composite carbon and Kevlar panels and has a set of lightweight forged alloys and ceramic brakes. It's also got a full roll cage.
There's no word on cost yet, but it's getting its debut at the Salon Privé show in London on the 22nd July. We'll be there too, trying to blag a long termer. We'll let you know how that conversation goes.
