This is the first official picture we've seen of the new Jaguar XJ, which Jag has now told us will be officially unveiled in London on July 9th before going on sale at the end of this year. It's not the most revealing of shots, granted, but it does show the panoramic sunroof that will be an option on the forthcoming big cat, as well as confirming rumours that it will have a bonnet and a boot.
Speaking in Shanghai, Jaguar MD Mike O'Driscoll also said that the new XJ will get power from the 3.0-litre diesel engine found in the latest
XF Diesel S saloon, as well as the 510bhp 5.0-litre supercharged unit from the XF-R. It will also be the first Jaguar constructed using the 'next-generation of Jaguar's aerospace-inspired aluminium body architecture.' Does that mean it will have wings?
Probably not, but in true jumbo jet style, buyers will be able to pay a bit extra for more legroom, as a long wheelbase version will be available alongside the standard car. And that's all we know, but there's bound to be a couple more teaser shots before July 9th and when we get them, so will you.
